After teaching high school for nearly all of my 34 years, I get where this guy is coming from. I had my students sit down and write to a prompt to refocus them into my classroom and creative writing and forget what happened in the hall or earlier in the day.

That said, his idea should be, for writers who are struggling, to open a blank word document or blank Google document and type/write for 15 minutes. BUT his idea should stop there.

By hitting publish without editing or proofing, it sends a negative message to your reader that you as a writer care nothing about the reader's time. It also gives you a reputation of being a shoddy writer.

I write stream of conscious in my morning pages. Sometimes I get good material for an article or story. Other times it is just the garbage of my muddled mind that needs to lay itself down on paper for me to get on with my day.

It is this gentleman's idea of writing that gives writers a bad reputation.

Please for the love of the written word, Linda, continue to preach good writing and editing before publishing.
