I keep trying to eliminate the grains and sugar veggie oils, but when chaos runs through my life, I fall back to my bad habits. We do work to eat fresh rather than processed, eat local instead of big chain supermarts, and eat as few grains and sugars as possible.

As my husband's nutrition researcher and chef, I have to keep an eye on what he can eat as a diabetic and dialysis patient. Even whole, unprocessed foods can contain elements that are unhealthy for him.

It was initially suggested to me by my chiropractor to eliminate the grains. As a nutrition researcher, I have found that sugars and processed oils are not healthy, but I also have found that there is a portion of the medical community, that balks at the logic of the "fringe" nutritionists. If you research not only the foods, but the politics behind the science that we are fed, you can make your own conclusions.

In addition to diabetes and dialysis, hubby had a quadruple bypass last October. It has doubled our efforts to eat healthy and participate in daily exercise.

We now have doctors who are up on current research and understand that our understanding of the human body is better now than when some of these studies that many doctors still adhere to were made.
