You have identified some of my real problems in my fiction writing. I have edited the novel drafts and ideas to death. My real nemesis is the fact that I attended school for 17 straight years, taught high school English/language arts for 34 years, and while teaching, completed a master’s degree and an educational specialist’s degree (20 credit hours short of a doctorate). I edit stuff to what my teacher-trained brain and my perfectionist self consider “perfect”. When I do a last read, they sound like they went into the hospital to have their life and passion surgically removed.
